From the 32nd Brian Wilson/Beach Boys Stomp Convention.
The proposed date for the 33rd Beach Boys Stomp Convention is Saturday 15th September 2012. This is still to be confirmed depending on a number of factors.
Back to the event just passed, which when all is considered,
financial problems, the BWT at the Royal Festival Hall on what in the past would have been the actual date, was very well received by those who were there. Mr Frank Holmes and his delightful Lady made an exceptional contribution to the day. The setting was superb or at least this is what I have been told, by even those who before the event were seeking a return to the Visitation Centre. We had a full day of California sunshine especially flown in by our guests. On the face of it all went according to plan even though the attendance may not have been as good as we might have wished. This was more than made up for by the quality of the day which again I have been told was excellent. A number of comments have been made and also letters received to lay claim to comments above.
The auction seemed to clash with the lunch break which had not been mentioned on the timetable but at least it means those of you who were not there. Will be able to bid for any items which did not sell on the day and will be listed shortly.
The raffle was very special indeed as all the items on offer were or will be signed, several with special messages if so wished. There were two numbers which were not claimed and these are BLUE 751 and GREEN 492 should these still be in the possession of anyone, please contact the Stomp address. Should they not be claimed by one month after the publication of Beach Boys Stomp 139 then they will be placed in next years raffle. Which again will see everything signed, in fact even more so by other people involved with the story. The real challenge here is the 'Party' album as we have two U.S. copies which have full sets of additional photographs. However, in all fairness here a fully signed copy of this is really auctionable!
So a brief update with the date for next year as about 50% of you requested to know this so you could plan around it. Plus 50% of you also showed interest in returning to The Visitation Parish Centre, more about this in the magazine.
Many grateful thanks to all of you who supported the event, especially those who helped out, the superb 'Special Guests' and very importantly, Paul Shakespeare and James Crowther.

Convention Auction List Saturday 15th October 2011
One or two of the above have a special significance which will be explained on the day.
26 September 2011 - Beach Boys 32nd Convention Latest!!
Tickets;- The standard price of £15-00 is now held until the 8th October, after this they will be £20-00 each as is the price on the day.
Badges;- These are now ready and will be added to the tickets and should be in the post before the end of the week.
Saturday 15th October 2011.
Following on from premliminery details published Sunday 13th March 2011 plus up-date posted Sunday 4th September 2011.
Tickets;- There has been an alteration to the ticket pricing and it is now as follows, with the basic price of £15-00 per person until the 1st October then thereafter and at the door they are £20-00 each. Please enclose a self stamped and addressed envelope to 'Beach Boys Stomp' 23, The Woolmead, East Street, Farnham, Surrey, GU9 7TT. The envelope needs to be at least 9" x 4" and if you require more than three tickets, please be sure to add stamp value to 'large letter' status. Please use the booking form included with magazine issue 138 or, all being well the form will be available at the end of this notice. These should be delivered to 23 later this week and as soon as we have the badges they will be released.
Badges;- Due to previous attendance not being what we might have hoped the qauntity has been reduced to 100 pieces. As is now customery these will reflect the theme of the day and in this instance, there will not be any prizes for quessing what the image will be? These are at the printers at this time.
Location;- On account of the financial advisor not being very impressed with the recent overall costs, the event venue has had to move to smaller premises. However, there can be no doubt these will in fact be by far the most impressive to date!! The Peninsula Room, The International Hotel, Wharf Road, Frimley Green, Camberley, Surrey, GU16 6JR. You just drive into the Lakeside complex and turn immediately left, it couldn't be simpler. Parking is superb and all being well we will ba able to place a map at the end of these details, of not straight away, certainly in a few days. The nearest railway station is Farnborough North, on the Reading/Redhill line which serves Gatwick Airport.
Accommodation;- For the very frist time you would actually be right in the middle of it. Although it may be slightly more expensive than 'The Continental Hotel' within the same complex and whose telephone number is 01252-838000.
Tables;- The hiring of tables is now open to all and are £35-00 each. To previous hirers and Stomp subscribers they are £22-50 each. Following the 30th September 2011 tables will be £35-00 to all. Please apply to Stomp address and enclose an S.S.A.E.
ANYONE WISHING TO SELL OR TRADE ANYTHING MUST HAVE A TABLE!!!
Entry;- The doors will be open for an eleven o'clock entry with the commencement of the event at twelve noon. As is normal the event will run for six hours to finish at six o'clock.
Table hirer's should be permitted to set up at ten o'clock if they so wish.
Raffle;- Hopefully in the very capable hands of Miss Angela 'Jardine' Gibbons and as has always been the case priced at £1-00 for a strip of five. The raffle this year could and should be the most spectucular ever and this is serious!
It is surprising what a chance remark can make possible.
Auction;- For the second time in 2009 the auction was witheld due to problems with time, which should not be the case this year. We will place a list of items on offer shortly on the web-site.
Photography;- As ever in the very capable hands of our own Brian Clarke. Photography for any form of publication,
commercial or otherwise is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN!! This ruling has been in place since 1989. Permission can only be obtained by writing in the first instance to 'Beach Boys Stomp'. For your own use or collection you are welcome to take as many pictures as you may wish.
Data Protection Act;- Introduced in 2007 and you all should be aware of this. Should you not wish to have your picture taken at the Convention and then placed on the web-site or in the magazine. It is YOUR responsiblility to avoid your photograph being taken by Brian Clarke. Should a picture you are in be taken from the side or you may be in a group or general shot, then the DPA does not apply.
Refreshments;- As in the past NO ONE is permitted to bring in with them drinks or food which have been purchased elsewhere!! The room has its own bar and there is a separate hotel bar on the same floor.
Mobile Telephones;- Slightly different this year as we are in a full hotel and the other guests will be moving around. The use of these within the Convention room is completely banned. Should you wish to operate a mobile telephone would you please kindly leave the room.
Special Guest;- As you should all be aware there has been a change of 'Special Guest' due to Mrs Carol Wilson -Bloom not being able to attend. Mr. Frank Holmes of the 'Smile' artwork frame is now coming instead with Mrs. Harriett Holmes. Obviously with all the interest in 'Smile' and the build up to the release date this is a wonderful time for us to have Mr. Holmes with us. As ever with our 'Special Guests' any questions from the floor which may relate to the exsistance of a certain Charles Manson, are strictly forbidden!
Live Entertainment;- This item will need to be put on hold until the ticket sales become more postitive, hopefully at some point in the not too distant future.
Videos;- This years sees the return of videos, with many thanks to Charlie B and James C who put a tape together for 2008 which was never shown. So hopefully on October 15th.
Timetable;- As soon as this is finalised, which should hopefully be very shortly and will be placed on the web-site.
With the loss of live music this should allow us more space.
Copyright;- The entire event is now copyrighted to 'Beach Boys Stomp' no part of it film (print or video) or audio may be used for any form of reproduction, commercial or otherwise, for reward or promotion. Without seeking permission from 'Beach Boys Stomp' at the usual address.
Finally;- (The most important part of all) THE ORGANIZERS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE ANY ALTERATIONS OR ADJUSTMENTS THEY DEEM NECESSARY--WITHOUT NOTICE!!!
